  • 6 tablespoons cold butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped apple
  • 1 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with a silicone mat.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together both flours, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, and vanilla; add to dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in chopped apples gently.
  6. Drop 1/4 cup portions onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 11-13 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Prepare glaze by whisking together confectioner's sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  9. Brush glaze over each fritter and broil for 2-4 minutes until the tops are golden brown.
  10. Brush any remaining glaze over warm fritters before serving.
