Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 teaspoons ketchup
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 1/2 cups beef stock
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 6 ounces sliced cremini mushrooms
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, ketchup, beaten egg, Dijon mustard, oregano, and salt. Shape into four oval patties.
- Heat olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for about 3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from skillet.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually add beef stock while whisking to avoid lumps. Stir in ketchup and Worcestershire sauce.
- Add sliced mushrooms and simmer the gravy until thickened (about 5 minutes). Season with salt and pepper.
- Return patties to skillet and cook in gravy for another 10 minutes until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
- Serve over mashed potatoes or rice with additional gravy.
