  • 4 medium russet or Yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced

  • 1 to 2 cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Garlic powder to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for 7-10 minutes; drain excess fat.
  3. Sauté the chopped onion with salt, pepper, and garlic powder until translucent (3-4 minutes).
  4. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and layer half of the potato slices; season lightly.
  5. Spread the beef-onion mixture over the potatoes and top with remaining potato slices.
  6. Whisk together milk and melted butter; pour over layers. Sprinkle cheese on top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; uncover and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
