Ingredients
- 4 cups Water
- 2 tbsp Kashmiri/Himalayan green tea
- 1/2 tsp Baking soda
- 1–2 Star anise
- 2 Cardamom pods (crushed)
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 2 cups Whole milk
- Sugar or honey to taste
- Crushed nuts for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Boil water in a saucepan and add green tea; boil for 5 minutes.
- Stir in baking soda; the water will turn red. Boil for another 2 minutes.
- Add star anise, crushed cardamom, and cinnamon stick; boil for 1 more minute.
- Lower heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes until reduced by half.
- Add salt and mix well.
- Incorporate whole milk; bring to a boil while stirring until the tea turns pink.
- Strain into cups and sweeten with sugar or honey as desired.
- Garnish with crushed nuts if using.
