Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup sourdough discard
- 3/4 cup water
- 3 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup)
- 6 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons butter (melted) for filling
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 cup powdered sugar for frosting
- 4 oz cream cheese (preferably full fat)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons cream (milk or half and half would also work)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the filling.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Mix in honey, melted butter, water, and sourdough discard until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about five minutes until smooth.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle (1/4 to 1/2 inch thick).
- Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 12 equal pieces.
- Place rolls in a prepared baking dish and bake for 25-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before frosting with cream cheese frosting.
