  • ½ lb ground pork
  • 28 oz diced tomatoes
  • 16 oz ricotta cheese
  • 9 lasagna noodles (uncooked)
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup onion (chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ tsp dried basil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meat sauce by sautéing chopped onion and minced garlic in olive oil. Add ground beef and pork, cooking until browned. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, and seasonings; simmer for 30 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with egg, basil, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a greased baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers and finish with remaining meat sauce and mozzarella.
  4. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly.
  5. Let cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
